A Christian counselor may incorporate more Christian principles in counseling. Whether secular or Christian, licensed professionals may not push faith on a client. However, a Christian counselor readily offers space for connection through shared faith.

Christian counselors incorporate faith values for clients who desire it, understand a Christian worldview, and are clinically trained. Alternatively, Biblical counselors typically have a degree from a Seminary or Bible College where they received extensive training in theology and God's word.

There is no biblical evidence that therapy is indeed against the law of Jesus Christ. There is enough evidence to support fellowship even if it is in the form of therapy. There are many different types of therapy such as coaching, Christian counseling, or family therapy just to name a few.

Pastoral counselors are not required to have licenses in every state, and they may often work as lay counselors after registering with the state. Christian counselors are licensed by all 50 states, and they must receive quite a lot of continuing education to maintain their licenses.
